He is the founder and managing partner of Virtus Partners Colombia, and was a senior partner at McKinsey & Co., where he worked for over 15 years, and was Head of the Family Business Practice for Latin America from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, he worked at Citibank.
Mr. Maldonado has ample experience as President and board member of several organizations and owner councils. He has served several times as a facilitator at Harvard Business School’s Families in Business program and is a permanent contributor and speaker at the Family Business Network. He is also a board member of Filantropía Transformadora in Colombia.
He has lived and worked in New York, São Paulo, Puerto Rico, and Bogotá, and has worked extensively in México, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Venezuela.
Mr. Maldonado earned his M.B.A. and M.I.M. both with honors from Thunderbird School of Global Management (USA and Switzerland), and B.S. in Business Administration from CESA School of Business (Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración). He is also an angel investor in service-related startups. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
He has a 20-year old daughter, 18-year old son, and a loving wife.
He is also an avid reader, bicycle and motorcycle rider, and private pilot.
