Rosa Restrepo joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in 1995. From 1989 to 2008, Ms. Restrepo was the resident lawyer in our British Virgin Islands office. She is an ARIFA’s Compliance Committee member as well as the partner responsible for the implementation of due diligence polices and procedures of the ARIFA Group.
Ms. Restrepo is a partner who specializes in advising institutional and private clients in the areas of offshore services, fiscal residency, estate planning, trusts and foundations. In these areas, she assists clients to adapt to the new challenges resulting from international standards on corporate structuring. She also offers broad expertise in assisting international clients with the implementation of FATCA, CRS and other pieces of foreign legislation that may affect their structures and activities.
With deep broad-based experience in privatizations, government concessions, public contracts and administrative law, she also heads the firm’s Government Contracts and Permits Group, where she has assisted leading multinational and Panamanian companies in establishing and starting their businesses in the Republic of Panama.
During 2014, Ms. Restrepo was a member of the BVI Financial Services Advisory Committee, a group that comprised senior industry leaders in charge of providing input and perspective, to help develop and implement the strategic initiatives for improving BVI’s competitiveness.
Ms. Restrepo is an active member of STEP (Chair of the Panama Branch) and member of both the STEP CC and STEP LATAM Conference Advisory Committee.
